AEDM Day 7-Doll Sketch-Sonja

I did it again! I failed to leave room for Sonja's feet, and I so wanted to show off her skates that I made for her! :) Sonja is a hard plastic doll from the 50's, given to me by mama for one of my birthdays. She is an ice skater, wearing a golden yellow taffeta dress with a peplum and lace the same color. Her golden blonde hair is swept back into a pony tail. She was barefoot when I got her at a flea market, so I made her some skates out of white felt, laced with gold thread, and sporting paper clip blades. She was so tickled and wanted to try them out right away. :)

I may have bitten off more than I can chew in trying to draw a doll a day for a month. It's taking more time than I thought it would. I'm proud of myself that a fourth of my challenge to myself is completed. 7 doll sketches in 7 days. That's quite an accomplishment for me, if I do say so myself. LOL Only 21 more to go!

You are doing fine so far. But I am beginning to doubt whether that doll really does have feet!

Congrats on making one week! I think this baby looks fine. My suggestion (as I've had to learn) is to sketch very lightly the whole thing (outline) at the beginning. This will help you make sure the proportions are right too, though it seems you have no problem with that. Keep up the good work!

This is the best one yet. Love the features and the crispness of her clothes. I occasionally also have trouble making my drawings fit in the available space. Good work.

Excellent sketch!

She looks a bit scared though-
like she hit a soft patch
of ice. Maybe that's why
we can't see her skates.

LOL

Cheers

7 sketches in 7 days is a terrific accomplishment when you are working on such complicated figures. You've done well. Again, nice sense of changes fond in the fabric textures.

You are doing great! Good for you to do this many. Don't think about how many more you have left. Just think about drawing one today. If you don't have time for a full drawing as you've been doing try a contour drawing and leave it at that. That's good practice too and a change of pace.

Why do we run out of room all the time? I always run out. There must be a technique to help stop that!

Congrats on your accomplishments of the past 7 days! You just get better and better. Oh yeah, except for the feet, I guess ; )
